BALANGAN BEACH

Location

Balangan beach is a segment of south west of Bali between Jimbaran and Uluwatu beaches. Along southern most of Bali there are many spots with beautiful beaches flagged with standing cliffs and steep wall facing Indian ocean creating a stunning views toward sunset. The stretch of the beach is not as wide as Kuta, Sanur or Nusa Dua, but the color of the water looks more clearer with white sand and bigger all day waves. This area is located in the local village called Balangan under administration of Desa Ungasan, as along the coast there are some traditional villages already decades cultivating the land besides living as fishermen. To reach this beach one can take the road leading to Uluwatu temple and after passing the village of Ungasan a sign to the beach is seen on the right, and can only be accessed with small car , and many by motorbike.

Along the most south west of Bali there are some segments of beaches already known by travellers consecutively from the north to the south are Dreamland beach, Pandawa beach, Melasti beach, Kandara beach, Suluban beach, Blue point beach, and Padang-padang beach. Most beaches are narrow with white subtle sand, blue clean water and on some spots turquois color. Natural topography of the shore is rugged and currogated shore line some places reaches 20 meters deep walls. The formation of the shore line for thousand of years have made the area under continuous abrassion from the strong wave of Indian ocean. At the spot of Balangan beach the wall is very massive and high leaving narrow white sand beach facing Indian ocean. It is expected that the wall will continue undergoing uplift due to the sub-duction of Australia plate under Asia plate. A strong proof is the finding of remainders of equatic animal on a cave known as gua Selonding with stalakmit and stalaktit on the highest hil of Pecatu, close to the are of Nusa Dua.

There are so many beautiful beaches on the isalnd of Bali, not only on the shouthern area, but to the east of the island which is in somewhat less touristy area compared to the south. While on the northern shore line there are beautiful beachen on the west around the area of Bali national park and Menjangan island which is also known as one of the best diving site. On Bali northern shore the more east one going will see the sand beach is black but it is very calm especially along the beach of Lovina, where there have been so many accommodations from simple to 4 star deluxe hotels.
