JIMBARAN BEACH

The beach between Ngurah Rai international airport and southernmost tip of Bali there is a bay with traditional fishermen village in the past called Jimbaran. Along the bay stretches beautiful beach with white yellowish sandy beach facing Indian ocean. Today one can not expect to see traditional fisheremen village anymore, but the activities of fishermen, market and local buying co-operation is still standing proudly with much in change of their physical apperance compared to the latest 1980s. It is like a human foot the southern most part of Bali, and JImbaran area is at the ankle where narrow land around no more then 3 km width, on the east side is mangrove beach the location of Tanjung Benoa, and at the south is the foot, high land of Pecatu, now the town of Pecatu overlooking lowland of Jimbaran, a real breathtaking views during evening on the town of Jimbaran, Ngurah Rai airport and southern Denpasar city.

Along Jimbaran bay there are 2 tradional villages from immemorial times, one is Jimbaran itself and the oter is Kedonganan, which location is directly bordering with international airport Ngurah Rai. Today both villages can not be seen as separately, or like those 20 years ago, because everything looks like a city without border. Due to complexity of the social and economic life within the area including Pecatu, Nusa Dua, and Uluwatu, all these area are now made under administrative area of Kecamatan Kuta Selatan. Since Jimbaran, Pecatu and Nusa Dua showing metropolitan area with not only national characteristic but international. Although tradiional villages such as Bualu, Ungasan, Pecatu and Tanjung are still oganizationally can be seen but the real situation has been changing to much.

Along the beach of Jimbaran bay with around 3 km long are full with dozens of fresh seafood restaurants which are well known for 5 continents, not only local travellers. The fact that Jimbaran and Kedonganan have been known as the source of fresh and salted fish from immemorial times, today it seems this mark is continuing with more modern style. Before 1980s salted fish from Jimbaran was distributed almost to all area of central Bali, and every one knows where to find fresh fish, and with the development of Bali into travel destination fish business develop very fast and bigger in volume. During 09.00 in the morning one can see colorful sails on the sea of Jimbaran bay where fishermen will anchor and discharge their fresh fish. Most of these fishermen are from east Java, and only very view from Jimbaran anymore.

Close to Jimbaran beach there are 2 pristine beaches are now being promoted to the travellers that are Pandawa beach and Dream land beach. These beaches has narrow plains with big massive cliff hanging an the beach facing also Indian ocean. These 2 beaches more popular among local travellers who only see the spots in sort time due to the hit during the day without any natural shading like in Jimbaran.

Other beach are Tanjung Benoa, nusa Dua and Geger beaches with its beautiful water and views. While Tanjung Benoa is popular with international level water sports. There are various choices of water ports activities from relaxing and safe type to extreme and dangerous adventures can be chosen. For Jimbaran and Tanjung Benoa every car entering the area is charged entrance of Rp 5.000 until today.

There are so many beautiful beaches on the isalnd of Bali, not only on the shouthern area, but to the east of the island which is in somewhat less touristy area compared to the south. While on the northern shore line there are beautiful beachen on the west around the area of Bali national park and Menjangan island which is also known as one of the best diving site. On Bali northern shore the more east one going will see the sand beach is black but it is very calm especially along the beach of Lovina, where there have been so many accommodations from simple to 4 star deluxe hotels.
